I have AppleCare theft and loss on iPhone XS Max which is paid in full. I want to upgrade to iPhone 11 Pro Max. Can I transfer the AppleCare to the new phone or do I need to buy another $299 policy ?

You will cancel the plan on your current phone and Apple will refund the unused portion back to you to the credit card you used to pay for that plan. Then you buy a new plan for the new phone.

You don't need to see "if" you get a refund. You WILL get a refund. If however, you don't yet have your new iPhone and are still using your Xs until the new phone arrives, don't cancel the plan on the Xs until the new phone arrives. You never know what could happen while you're waiting.
If this is true, then problem solved. I will try to cancel the AppleCare I have on iPhone XS and see if I get a refund, and then I’ll buy new iphone 11 pro Max with the $299 AppleCare policy.
Can I transfer AppleCare (paid in full) from iPhone XS Max to iPhone 11Pro ?
