They iOS update does not fix this annoying issue.
Bingo! That is exactly right. If your iCloud is one account ("personal"), and your iTunes/APP Store is another (like a "family" account), what's happening is that now you can access the App Store right from your watch, so of course its asking for password and verification code (you can choose which account to use for iCloud and which account to use for App Store in the Watch App settings). But if you're like me, you don't actually have a device that's signed into iCloud USING THE ITUNES/App Store "family" account, so when Apple Watch sends a verification code, there no device that can receive it because they are all signed into the "personal" account. This is why generating a code from Password & Security doesn't work, because that code is associated with the iCloud "personal" account, not the App Store "family" account.
TRY THIS FIRST: The steps ebony_eyes laid out should work, however, this worked for me and may be faster: First, on my Apple Watch, I enter password and clicked "send verification code". Then I signed out out the App Store (Signed into my "family" account) on my phone (on the actual phone settings, not the Apple Watch settings), then signed into the App Store with my "personal" account, then signed out again and resigned in back with my original "family" account. As soon as I signed back in with my "family" account I got a verification code pop up and was able to enter that into the watch.
Good luck!
You might want to try going into contacts and clicking on your profile. This will take you to your profile info and emails associated with apple. Once you click on the email, it gives you an option to ignore one of them. Click ignore on the one that you don’t want to use.
The combination of your advice and ebony_eyes has solved my problem.
I got my spare iPad, logged out of my primary iCloud account and then logged in to iCloud using my iTunes Store ID. This ID is very old and did not have an iCloud account linked to it so I created that. I then tried to install an app on the Watch, got the Verification message, entered my password and the alert and number appeared on my iPad. Job done!
It is important to make sure that your store ID does have an iCloud account as well even if you never use it again.
Many thanks.
I seem to have stumbled across a hack to make the problem go away. I had some meetings that required that I silence my phone and I put the watch into privacy mode and all of those dialogs stopped popping up.
First go to the Watch app at your phone and enter your apple id through the settings. After this your watch will ask one more time to enter apple id and when you enter your id it will verify through your watch app settings. After these steps, you shouldn’t get any more same notification.
Thank you! I finally get rid of this id verification issue.
Thank you so much! This totally works for me and fixes my problem.
This is extremely annoying, nothing I’ve tried works. Does anyone know if Apple is working on a fix?
This fixed the issue for me. Thanks for posting.
My apple watch app just keeps spinning when I choose to use the keyboard to enter my password. How did you get to the keyboard?
Thanks,
That doesn't work, there's no place to put in a password again
and i only have one apple id
and it took three logins and a return to Google to get to this forum. When I went in thru Apple Community, this discussion was not available from search. Apple needs to get their s(*& together and concentrate on current user services and not sales, sales, sales
Go to your watch app on your phone. Find the Apple ID. Your watch will buzz asking you for the password again. On your watch, select the password option and it will bring up the keyboard on your phone. Enter the password and it should stop the watch from coming up with that message again.
When I do this it does not give me the opportunity to re-enter my password just shows my Apple ID!
