Apple Watch
I have the apple watch version 4 or what eve the newest one is, and it keeps asking me for my apple ID even if I just put it in. I went into settings and there is no option to enter my password to reset. How do I fix this?
I haven’t had this issue for weeks now. I deleted any apps (I have a lot 🥴) that showed the cloud with arrow because it won’t update so is probably old & obsolete. The email address that previously popped up was an old one that was for an iPod (I also reset the iPod) & the ID is no longer valid (not used since 2012) so couldn’t sign in anyway. But the problem has stopped.
Regardless, you can sign onto your Apple Watch by drawing letters for your password onto the watch face.
It is an extremely tedious process, and I passionately want Apple to stop demanding that I sing onto my watch every time I put it on.

Apple is either being invaded by space invaders or they no longer care about their machines working--just selling them.
Yes, the people who answer the phone are amazing, but I am tired of having to fix all the glitches I am experiencing lately.
Apple used to make my life easier. Not anymore!

We are all in the same boat. When i put the timer while walking it keeps on asking my password every 3 Mins!! How annoying!! Does anyone from Apple get to read the trend on this topic? Do they rven care? Why cant they just solve the issue through an ios update????
I was having this problem, until I switched the watch face from a digital to analog. There are plenty of choices on the Apple Watch website.
It turns out that I like the analog face better, and it never asks for a password anymore.
That said, I don't know why Apple doesn't fix this problem, since a lot of people seem to be having it.
This thread is out of control. Do NOT post your email address or Apple ID here. This is not official Apple Support and it won't help your situation.
Read through the thread and try the many proposed solutions. Click "I have this question too" instead of littering the thread with unhelpful comments.
This is really annoying. Mine keeps on asking every 15 mins! I have tried all suggestions in this community! Is there anyone in this discussions who works at apple? Why cant they just fix this thru ios? Does apple even care?
The one suggestion that finally worked for me (I hope), was to completely unpaired the watch reset it and then re-pair it with my iphone. A day and half without being asked for the password (of course I needed to use the password when re-pairing the watch/iphone).
Barbara,
I already did this. And all other suggestions here. The annoying problem is still there. You are right! Tim Cook does not wear an apple watch, nor does he care. Even the latest os update does not address this concern. What can we do?? I am calling for a boycott of Apple Watch!!
I see there’s now 19 pages of comments. I’m not sure what I did right but I have not had this happen for several weeks now.
My watch was asking me to sign into an obsolete Apple ID, it was one I used on an old iPod dating back to about 2012. I couldn’t even sign in to Apple on the website with it as I no longer remembered the password & when I tried to reset password I got the error message ‘this Apple ID is not valid’
The main things I did was reset the iPod to factory settings & deleted all the apps on my iphone that wouldn’t update, old/obsolete apps show a cloud with an arrow.
i think I’ve had 2 iOS updates since it stopped the password request & it hasn’t come back, so yay!
Maybe these solutions could help someone else 😊
First of all enter your username and password on Apple Watch. It will ask for verification code which you can get from your iPhone by going to Settings -> click on the top your Apple ID -> password & security -> get verification code -> enter this verification code and you will be all set.
Hope it helps!
Steven - That doesn't work if you have an older model (even with updated firmware) unless and until you re-register the watch by the rather long tap-dance I described. I was able to log into the watch before that, but it did not ask for a verification code. Honest.
I fought this problem for a week. Finally I got it. The watch prompts for your apple password. On the watch tap Password and them the little keyboard on the watch. At the exact same time that you tap the keyboard on the watch, your phone prompts you for action (it happens so fast I can't ever tell you what it said) - be ready to tap the prompt on you phone. If you catch it in time, the phone brings up a place to enter the password. I entered my Apple app store/itunes password. That was what it wanted. I hope it works for you too!
This was a frustrating thing for me. I found it by watching my phone to see what would flash up on the phone when I would hit the little keyboard on the watch. I finally saw that it was an entry box. It flashes on the phone screen so fast I could not even read it, then it goes away! So do this: put your: iphone in your lap where you can quickly touch the box that will flash at the top of the phone screen. Follow the prompts on the watch to get to that PASSWORD then KEYBOARD. When you tap that little KEYBOARD on your watch your phone opens up a box for you to enter the password. You have to be fast. When you finally get to that point and you tap the box on your iphone, a keyboard will pop up, on the phone, for you to enter your password. The first time I did it I entered my itunes apple store password. That worked for about a day. Then when it asked again the next day I entered my iCloud password, because I have them separate for some reason... Anyway once I had entered them both I was done. It never asked me for the password again.
