iPhone 11 on iOS 13 having Bluetooth connectivity issues

New iPhone 11 on iOS 13 is having Bluetooth connectivity issues.

both my daughter and I are having the similar issues.

daughters phone is an 11 64GB Purple.

mine is an 11 128GB White

Hers gets connected to her 2018 Toyota C-HR and constantly drops out. Her iPhone 7 Plus never had any issues.

I have mine connected to a Boss BT module on my motorcycle. Never had any issues with my iPhone X.

neither of our other phones we’re running iOS 13.

I updated to 13.1.2 It looks like "MOST" of my issues have been fixed with this latest update. My 2012 Scion xB stock stereo is now not dropping or getting garbled calls. My iFrogz headphones are now staying connected when paused in Pandora.

The only remaining bug(s) I'm seeing are:

  1. Hey Siri is somewhat spotty. Like the phone isn't hearing me sometimes. Very random.
  2. When placing a call via Hey Siri in my car, the bluetooth connection between my iphone 11 and my scion xB, will connect/disconnect several times before the dialing sound starts. Once the dialing starts, it stays connected.

William, if your phone is working perfect, let’s swap phones? I will DM you and we can swap address send phones, means I can leave this thread and be a happy iPhone user listing to music and make calls when in my car with out interference... sound like a good deal? I bet not. There is no way all cars are broke. I doubt my car maker going to give me a 20 plate car as it’s not working... when it did with every other iPhone ... they changed the bluetooth technology and now it is dreadful and will never be fixed

I've actually had two 11 Pro Maxes that have worked perfectly with Bluetooth; the first had a bad ring/silent switch and I swapped it out last year.

Not "all cars" are broken as many work perfectly.

Odds are it will be fixed someday when your auto maker gets around to an update.

Search the web for reports of Android BT difficulties with many of those same vehicles; they are plentiful.

You shouldn’t be playing with your phone when driving anyway.

Millions of people around the world successfully use their iPhone 11s with a wide variety of BT devices, and if you do a search you will find many of these same vehicles have issues connecting with the latest generation of Android phones as well.

Newer versions of BT implemented in newer devices are backwards compatible with old versions, but only if the old versions were implemented correctly.

Hi. I’m from India and had been having Bluetooth issues since December 2019. No device gets connected. I had reported earlier as well. Many a times Apple support checked and couldn’t know the root cause even after demonstrating live and running scripts begging for error logs. They acknowledged the issue but gave no solution. Even Apple products don’t work with my iPhone Pro Max 256gb. Because of Covid lockdown I’m unable to visit store. Many have reported this issue. Apple is just giving replacements with no guarantee that problem won’t recur nor warranty extension. Store employees also blank faced even though they acc CC knowledge the problem.

miserable experience. This was my first iPhone in my life. Decided to switch from android since my experience with my MacbookPro and iPad Pro 2019 was good.

only during bad times do we come to know hoe company responds to customer’s frustration

After leaving my car for 3 days at the dealership, they paired 3 different older i-phones and never got a call or connection dropped the entire time they had my car. Also, I have since tried an older i phone 7 and it works perfectly. I now KNOW this bluetooth problem is definitely NOT my vehicle. Paying $1300.00 for this i phone 11 pro in January ( only 5 months ago) and using the latest software 13.5.1 has been a terrible experience. Waiting 8 days for an in person genius bar appointment ( during covid) only proved there is nothing wrong with the hardware in my phone. They said if they gave me another phone I would have the same problem. Not sure I believe that. Does anyone know where I can send an e-mail to someone at Apple who cares about a very un-happy, frustrated customer? I am not giving up on this, please any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Having the same problems here.

iPhone 11 Pro Max 64GB Midnight Green on iOS 13.5.1

I CAN connect Bluetooth devices such as my JBL Charge 4, or my Airpods gen 2. but as soon as I want to use Siri or play Music, the connection drops, acts weird and reconnects later on.

I’d really love an update on this, since I’ve tried literally anything.

Recently got my screen replaced too, and I addressed them about this issue, but the Apple Store couldn’t find anything troubling with it when they tested it.

I’m kind of desperate, since I make a lot of phone calls for my business aswell, and now my Airpods are kind of useless..

Yep, I recently got my screen repaired (thanks, nephew..) and had to set it to factory default and even put my iPhone in recovery mode when I got it back, in order to fully reinstall the OS to rule out ANY software issues.

side note; The BT issue had been going on BEFORE I got it repaired, I told them about it, and they said they couldn’t find anything when I came to pick up my iPhone last week.

I wonder if the Covid-app API in iOS 13.5.1 has anything to do with it, since the problems started after that update.

You can’t update an iPhone from what Bluetooth version it is programmed with. Old iPhones have old Bluetooth versions.

if you use your phone for what it is is mainly for, phone calls, then replace the earpiece for one with V.5.0. If you want to play music, why not buy an iPod or old iPhone. Play music with that. Cheaper than updating you speaker system, especially if you run you tv through it. You can listen to music on an iPhone 11 as well. Just a thought. Maybe Apple won’t do an update for Bluetooth retrograde, after all most if not all Apple product only have a design life, like everything today. They want you too upgrade. Stay safe.

With regard to android phones, I’ve never had an Android smart phone. Perhaps all phone manufactures have built in requirements to only pair with the latest Bluetooth versions. Built in obsolescence seems to be the rule today.

if Apple still updates the iPhone 4s I would still be using it.

I haven’t tried too pair it too my car yet, last of the line a DS3. Will do it later and let you know. It would be helpful to know the Bluetooth version built into the car. Up too recently I thought the operating system of Bluetooth was a constant, now I know differently. Maybe car makers just keep loading the same version in year after year. Might say in the handbook. When driving I only use an earpiece in one ear for calls. For music or talk radio I use the radio in the car. I won’t have both ears blocked. I think it’s dangerous. But that’s my opinion.
