Airplay to Homepod from Macbook

Is it not possible to Airplay to Homepod from Macbook in iTunes movies or home movies or anything else? Only with Music?

When playing video iTunes might be looking for a device that supports video AirPlay rather than audio only. Can you AirPlay from the Mac's volume control instead of using the iTunes menu? I imagine you'll have sync issues.

Ok I do see the HomePods from the speaker icon on the Menu Bar at the top of Macbook screen. Didn’t try that! The syncing is good. It doesn’t allow me to use more than one at a time though. . I don’t think you can correct? It allows more than one in iTunes music. Still trying to get used to using my MacBook - I learn something new everyday.

Do you think this will change in Catalina?

AirPlay from the Mac volume control cannot use paired HomePods as a pair either. Not sure if that might change with Catalina, but HomePod is due an update soon and we can hope.
