No Option for Two-Factor Authentication

Hello all,

I was hoping to use the "Sign in with Apple" feature and was directed to turn on two-factor authentication. I tried searching Settings for the toggle, but nothing showed up. Next, I looked online for how to enable it. What I found was to go to:

Settings>[name]>Password and Security

However, the option for two factor authentication isn't there. I have an option for a rescue email, though.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a step before this that I missed and need to complete?

My account also seems to not be eligible for other things, like family sharing. I think some of this is because this account was created a long time ago while working at a store that sold apple products and was used to take the test courses (just a thought, though).

On that note, can I make a new AppleID and transfer anything over, or do I have to give up everything I've purchased on the account?

Thanks for any help that can be offered!

Try contacting Apple ID Support to see if they can help.

Apple Support by e-mail or chat    Work through the screens to get a chat option.  You may need to pick a problem that is slightly different than yours to get a chat option.

Or fill out and submit this form.          The form is for iTunes, but it will get passed to the ID Support section.

All the support doc (Availability of two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support) mentions is:

While most iCloud users can now turn on two-factor authentication, certain account types may still be ineligible at Apple’s discretion.”

So I would follow Eric’s advice and contact Apple. If it is some restriction because of the circumstances you created the AppleID under, then Apple may be able to modify the account so it will work now.
