The new 2019, 7th gen iPad is still, basically, the 2018, 6th gen iPad, just with a larger 10.2 inch diagonal screen.

The inetrnals are no different from the previous 6th gen 9.7 inch screen iPad.

Also, the 2019, 7th gen iPad STILL has NO laminated screen. The same as the previous 208 6th gen iPad.

The iPad Air 3 is more a scaled down, more affordable alternative to the iPad Pro, with many of features found in the iPad Pro models.

I have a 4-year old 12.9 inch screen iPad Pro.

If something really bad happens to it, with the “Pro” pricing Apple is charging now for this size screen, it is going to be hard for me to go back to a smaller screen iPad.

A replacement for me would either be the 11 inch screen iPad Pro OR the 10.5 inch iPad Air 3, or somethung very similar in the future, as it has just enough of the iPad Pro features to be satisfied.

I WILL MISS the much better 4-speaker audio in the Pro models, though, as I listen to a lot of music and videos on my iPad and the 4-speaker audio in any of the iPad Pro models blows away Apple’s lesser speaker system audio in less pricier iPad models.

Hmm, hadn't thought about the speakers since the iPad Pro 9.7 is the only iPad I've had. I don't listen to music on it, but I do use it to make Skype calls to Europe and that is better than using my MBP. Most of the shows I watch on it are projected to the TV, so the only thing I need speakers for are the occasional phone calls. I may go to a store when the new iPad is out and compare there or, better yet, he already ordered a new iPad so I can compare that with my iPad Pro.

I need to thank you profusely - I went ahead and ordered the new iPad 10.2; got it yesterday, set it all up (a breeze) and then I went about comparing different TV programs, etc. on the new one and my iPad Pro 9.7, both by themselves and hooked up to the TV. And, you were right: there is quite a difference; I don't know if it's 2 vs. 4 speakers or some other hardware/software difference, but the new iPad sounded "tinny" and I had to turn it up higher to get the same volume. So, I made a decision and found a refurb 10.5 iPad Pro and ordered it. When I pick that up next week, I will bring back the iPad 10.2 and return it - it is already wiped and back in the box. I went with the 10.5 because a) the price, and b) it still has the lightning port so I don't have to get all new accessories, and c) it actually has better specs than the new iPad even though it is older.

So, thanks again!

The 2019, 7th gen, 10.2 inch iPad STILL has a Lightning port.

Like I stated earlier, the 2019, 7th gen 10.2 inch screen iPad is still the same everythng from the 2018, 6th generation iPad just with a 1/2 inch larger screen.

The internals of the 2019, 7th gen, 10.2 inch screen iPad are exactly the same as in the 2018, 6th gen iPad with the exception of the smart keyboard connector.

Yeah,

I knew you would not be happy with the new 2019, 7th gen iPad.

You should be much happier with the 2017, 10.5 inch screen iPad Pro.

That iPad Pro model has great features.

I hope you got it for a great price!
