iphone 11 heating up fast

Does anyone face the issue of your iphone 11 heating up fast? I’m worried of having a hardware issue. I don’t mean like really hot but just able to feel some heat from the back of the phone from just using instagram.

Hey, I consulted an apple support guy and he told me it’s normal. I also did my research and found out that the problem may be caused by the DARK MODE. If u have it turned on just turn it off and please let me know if there’s a difference cus there was for me.

I just downloaded the newest 13.1.2 with the new 'dark mode' yesterday afternoon. I immediately notice my phone heating up. I mean really heating up. I am most certain it is the new update with the dark mode. I read your comment about it being in the 'dark mode' that was causing it as I was on hold waiting for Customer Support with AT&T. I hung up and switched my phone back to 'light mode'. It has only be 15 minutes but there is a noticeable cooling down. I guess I will keep it in light mode and or try the auto mode. It is so pretty in dark mode. I hope they fix the bugs quickly.

Hi peh255,

Yes! My wife and I just upgraded from the iPhone X to the 11. My phone is normal, but hers has been getting uncomfortably hot! We are still within the 14 day period with ATT but we had a problem in 3 stores yesterday trying to get an exchange. We are concerned about it. When I touch her phone it just feels warm, but to her it is hot. But I know something is off because my phone doesn't do that. So you are not alone, we are having the same issue. I'm going to contact Apple support today and see what they say.

Well i managed to somehow figure out what is going on... not sure though...

i noticed that my phone is getting hot when the network or wifi signal is weak,,, i guess the phone aggressively making an effort to keep or enhance the signal reception... thats why it gets hot... and the hot feel gets rapidly high then it cools down in a matter of 10 to 30 secs. Other than that the phone is cool and performing like a champ...

and also sometimes new phones do extra effort in the beginning to learn your usage...

Thanks Galal1. That's an interesting theory. For my wife and I, it is happening at home where our Wifi signal is extremely strong (one bedroom apartment). She watches a you tube video and it heats up fast (even after both updates). When she texts, the bottom half of the phone heats up as well. She says it's hot to her, but when I feel it, I would describe it as warm. Like you said, it does cool down quickly (within 30 seconds). We have an appointment at an apple store soon and they are going to run diagnostics on it. We are still within our 14 day exchange window with AT&T, so we may just exchange it. It really bothers her so we have to have it resolved. Mine doesn't do that, and that's what is hard to accept as well.

I wanted to by Iphone 11, not pro one. So, in apple store I checked both and compared at least ten of each. All Iphone 11s were heating after using a short while. Even when they were in charge they were warm in button side. After using a short while, I saw mostly they were heating very fast in button side which is very uncomfortable. Also in middle of phone after a while you can feel heating. But Iphone 11 pro with exactly same usage like using an app/camera or game is completely cold. Don't worry that this just your phone problem. But very weird and uncomfortable at all.

I stopped thinking about 11 one. Pro has no problem.

okay so uhm.. i just recently got my iPhone 11 and i had no problem w/ it. but now, i kinda do. i brought my phone to school and i also brought eye drops. i put them in the same pocket, except i put the eye drops in a little pocket and the phone wasn’t so close to it. and i got out my bathroom pass and realized it was a little wet and i’m guessing it got in my phone because the bottom of my phone is getting warm.. help??

got my iPhone 11 y'day and i set it up today.. what i did - below are the steps

1- transferred all my data from my old iPhone 6s to new phone ( its automatically step, took almost 20 minutes)

2- ios 13.1.3 - upgraded it - took 20 mins again

3- after data transferring , all apps trying to get installed together on phone and here when i feel burn ( yes that's word) on side button, not on left side vol button, its right side button...

pone was hot for like good 5 minutes... i convinced myself that there was so much going on that's why.. i don't usually watch videos, but i do other stuff, so i ll keep an eye and will contact apple. after all i paid $745 for this.... thats not cheap

I can confirm that iOS 13.2 still hasn’t fixed this.

iphone 11 gets hot with light use (social media, Reddit app, web browsing...)

Of course it gets hot while gaming, I wouldn’t find it weird. Light use heating is what worries me.

I also have an 8 that I carry with me all the time and it doesn’t get hot at all
