iphone 11 heating up fast

Does anyone face the issue of your iphone 11 heating up fast? I’m worried of having a hardware issue. I don’t mean like really hot but just able to feel some heat from the back of the phone from just using instagram.

It was because of IOS 13.1.1, after updating to 13.1.2 which is released few days ago the heating problem is fixed, (Iphone 11). I checked again it again in apple store, now heating is normal (a llitle bit more that 11 pro but its normal).

I purchased two iPhone 11s last week one for myself and one for my wife. Right away i noticed mine getting pretty hot while it initially installed all my apps from iCloud. I remember thinking, wow i don’t think my iPhone 7 Plus ever got this warm ever. I have felt the 7 Plus warm of course in the past but i don’t remember it getting so warm so fast. I dismissed it thinking its under heavy load installing everything, ill revisit this once everything is installed and the iPhone has cooled down afterwards. My wife’s phone did not seem to get as hot as mine. Hers is a white one, mine is the black one not that it should matter. I am waiting for a case to be delivered in the mail for this phone so i havent used it that much for fear of dropping it unprotected. Once i get it in a case it will be in my pocket fulltime. Fast forward to today, i was watching a Youtube video on it and after one 10 minute video the phone was seriously hot again. So i jump into battery settings and was a little stunned at what i saw.. Youtube was at 10%, Mail was at 10% and everything else was under 4%. However, there was also one app that was at 66% and that app was NordVPN. So i instantly made sure the NordVPN widget wasn’t running in iOS and i turned off NordVPN in the Background Refresh settings. Boom.. Phone instantly cooled down to normal. Since then for laughs i have been running Youtube videos in Youtube app at 1080P setting (720P in reality) for the last 40 minutes and the phone doesn’t even get warm now. Its 100% normal.

So check what apps are causing the constant load on your battery and disable Background Refresh on those apps and see if it fixes the issue.

Worked perfectly for me... Screw you NordVPN!

Playing games is probably one factor. On my iphone 11 if I play any games it heats up quickly and gets HOT. If you still experience heating issues even while you aren’t playing games, you can try to make sure no apps run in the background, or turn the screen brightness down. I notice my phone heats up if I am using it at max brightness, or have a lot of apps running in the background. If it still heats up to the same extent, try resetting all settings. If that still doesn’t work try resetting the entire device, but don’t do a backup from iCloud, do a backup by connecting your phone to a computer and then doing the backup from the computers storage. If none of this works you can contact Apple and see if it is normal to experience that type of heating.

I just downloaded the newest 13.1.2 with the new 'dark mode' yesterday afternoon. I immediately notice my phone heating up. I mean really heating up. I am most certain it is the new update with the dark mode. I read your comment about it being in the 'dark mode' that was causing it as I was on hold waiting for Customer Support with AT&T. I hung up and switched my phone back to 'light mode'. It has only be 15 minutes but there is a noticeable cooling down. I guess I will keep it in light mode and or try the auto mode. It is so pretty in dark mode. I hope they fix the bugs quickly.

I just upgraded from an 8+ to the 11. My 8+ never warmed up. I first noticed the phone getting slightly warm when I was using it while it was charging. Got it home, put back on charge, and let it finish setting up. Nothing unusual. Then I got on Facebook, got on Pokémon go, played on snap chat and uploaded a pic to Instagram. Set the phone down and was getting ready for bed. Picked it up and it was warmer than early. Did a google search and found this thread. I checked the software for updates and I’m on 13.3. I checked the display settings and dark mode was on. I turned that off and turned automatic off. It instantly cooled down in a couple minutes. I got back on a couple apps for a few minutes and it isn’t warming back up. I’ll mess with it on automatic tomorrow to see if it warms up, but it’s fine now.

Well i managed to somehow figure out what is going on... not sure though...

i noticed that my phone is getting hot when the network or wifi signal is weak,,, i guess the phone aggressively making an effort to keep or enhance the signal reception... thats why it gets hot... and the hot feel gets rapidly high then it cools down in a matter of 10 to 30 secs. Other than that the phone is cool and performing like a champ...

and also sometimes new phones do extra effort in the beginning to learn your usage...

I wanted to by Iphone 11, not pro one. So, in apple store I checked both and compared at least ten of each. All Iphone 11s were heating after using a short while. Even when they were in charge they were warm in button side. After using a short while, I saw mostly they were heating very fast in button side which is very uncomfortable. Also in middle of phone after a while you can feel heating. But Iphone 11 pro with exactly same usage like using an app/camera or game is completely cold. Don't worry that this just your phone problem. But very weird and uncomfortable at all.

I stopped thinking about 11 one. Pro has no problem.

Hello,

I am seeing a lot of people asking what to do about their phones heating up. Before I upgraded to iPhoneXR from an iPhone 7plus. I did the software upgrade and found my phone heating up quickly. I found that if I put my phone in auto mode rather than staying in Dark Mode my phone didn't heat up at all. Even though Dark Mode is pretty cool I have no problem waiting to hear if there is a fix. I have my phone in the auto mode so it changes into dark and light modes with the time. No heating problems at all. Hope this helps somewhat. It looks like the iPhone 11 is having most of the problems.

If you’re any mobile app ,not been updated properly due to lack of data speed mobile frequently will get heats up while running Facebook/instagram/or any application.

In case of game- mobile heating is app + mobile hardware issue . Which it may be struggling to overcome.

For both Please remove any body case cover if you’re using to observe for 30-60 minutes.

While doing update please check it on all backgrounds app click on and do on systems setting software update during midnight period on router wifi system.

So take care and be safe with your mobile.
