iOS13 and Land Rover Evoque InControl System

I have an iPhone XS Max and a 2018/19 LR Evoque with the standard InControl system.

Since upgrading to iOS13 it now won’t maintain a Bluetooth connection to the car, nor allow browsing of playlists/songs when it does actually connect via Bluetooth. Under 12.4.1 it would do this fine, but not work with a USB cable.

Oddly, iOS13 seems to have resolved the cable issue with iPod appearing in the source lists as you would expect when connected - however, while the option to Browse Playlists/Songs etc is there, the playlists all appear ‘empty’ which means they’re unplayable, unless set playing directly from the phone which obviously can’t be done while driving.

I prefer the ease of Bluetooth, so would like this resolved. Its now a bit of a mess.

Despite searching, and tweeting, I can’t see any others affected, and I can’t believe I’m the only one. So is anyone else experiencing this issue?

My 2019 Touch Duo system was updated yesterday by Land Rover to a brand new version S19B_19.40.4-436082 (dated Nov. 6th).

This update didn't fix the problem neither, which reconfirms that, the problem is clearly related to ios13.

I tried to connect my wife's iphone on ios13 and an ipad pro on ios13 and they all have the same problem.

Connecting an iphone on ios12.4 works perfectly.

Come on, Apple! What else do you need to acknowledge this issue and fix it?? I even installed the ios 13.3 beta, but the problem is still there...

BREAKING NEWS:

Call received from Land Rover UK. They now have an internal bulletin re: #ios13 and #InControl phone connectivity #issues, and #JLR engineers are now working on it. No timeframe, but they know officially, so now the waiting game begins. Perhaps contact your local dealer and keep the pressure on to get it sorted!

Bluetooth working OK but since I upgrade my iPhone XS to iOS13 I can't skip tracks when playing music either via the steering wheel buttons or touch screen (I have a 2014 Evoque). It registers the command but then just carries on playing the existing track. Overcast podcast app still works OK so seems to be an Apple Music app problem?

Thanks to some contacts on Twitter, I've had a call from JLR HQ this morning who tell me they are trying to work out a fix, and that for them constant changes by Apple (and Android) mean they're forever playing catch up. So, you can't knock JLR for working on it, they know about it, but fundamentally it isn't their issue to fix. Over to you Apple, you have a lot of very annoyed people with expensive cars to match your expensive hardware that they can't use.
