I have put most of my files into icloud drive, but they won't upload so that they take space off of my computer. How can I tell apple to upload specific folders or files so that they no longer take up space on my harddrive? It seems that I can only download the ones that they magically think should be in there, rather than being able to upload them properly. Thanks!

There isn't a way to select what files are uploaded and removed from your computer. You can go to System Preferences/iCloud/iCloud Drive/Options and turn Optimization on, but you don't get to choose what files are Optimized.
