connecting phone number to Mac

when I go to add my phone number to send and receive messages from my Mac it doesn't give me the option to use my phone number only emails

All Youtube videos I've seen tell me that I go to preferences and select my phone number as one option I can be reached at, but it is not available to me and I'm not sure why. I am signed into my Apple ID and everything but my phone messages and mac messages are still completely separate.

use phone number for messages on mac Okay so in settings on my mac I have verified my iPhone number as an apple ID, yet when I go to messages and preferences to add the number as one of the options where I can be reached at, it isn't there. I just want to use my phone number to send and receive messages on my mac.

Sharing number on Mac without phone Does anyone know how I can send and receive messages by number on my mac from my mac? My phones broken so I'm trying to be able to text from my mac, but my number isn't hooked up to send and receive and I was wondering if there's any way to turn that on without my iphone.
