Trade in kit doesn’t have serial number

I am sending my iPhone XS Max back to Apple in the trade in kit pack that Apple sent to me. The instructions say that the packaging must have the serial number of my iPhone on it... it doesn’t, is this an issue?

Apple trade in Just trying to check my phones worth on Apple trade in.... I get to the serial number and it says “The serial number entered does not match the device selected”... I got this phone from apples website so I know it’s brand new, serial number on the box matches device so it’s not that either. The phone is still within its warranty, could this be the reason or is there something else?
