Thanks Bob I suspected as much but wanted to make sure there wasn't something I wasn't aware of prior to waiting at Apples Genius Bar.

There is only 1 moving part in the computer and that is the fan. It may be hitting an adjacent part/case or it may be failing. In either case onlt a physical inspection will isolate the problem.
