Apple Pay with Discover Card at Costco

When using Apple Pay, does it matter what type of credit card it is? Will it know if it’s a visa/AE/MasterCard/etc.? Because I plan on using my Discover Card at a Costco store, but I know they only accept Visa cards. My question is, if I use Apple Pay that’s linked with my Discover Card, will it go through? I know it’s a confusing question, but if anyone can help me out. That would be great. Thanks!
