The other day while using Safari I got an alert that my phone needed to be protected within the next two minutes or my information could be sabotaged. It seemed like an alert from Apple...something about mal-something but then it directed me to sign up for net shield and it was free for three days but there is a yearly charge now of $75 and I was wondering if this service is legitimate or not? Do I really need it?

Close the offending page, and avoid sites that are involved in such bogus advertising tactics.

If you signed up, cancel immediately. Watch your credit card for suspicious activity. You may end up needing to cancel the card.
