Safari + Dropbox Issue: "Open in Finder" and "Open in Word" not showing in Safari OSX for Mac

Hey folks,

When viewing dropbox files from the Safari browser (Safari v 13.0.1) I can no longer see the "Show in Finder" or 'Open in Word" / "Open in Adobe Acrobat" options for files.

I also have Chrome installed on my Mac (v77.0.3865.90) and I can confirm that these DO work on Chrome.

These items used to show in Safari, however it seems that after updating to Safari v13.0 this has stopped working.

Any ideas for resolution would be gratefully received as Safari is my default browser.

Cheers,

Scott

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Safe Mode - About

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin

Hi Eric,

Thanks do much for your help.

I've tried booting into Safe Mode today as suggested and I can confirm that the problem persist even in safe mode - Safari does not display the "Show in Finder" or "Open With Desktop apps" dialogues whereas Chrome browser continues to work correctly. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I haven't successfully set up another admin account in system preferences/users & groups yet as I will need to install the Dropbox client to the new admin account and sync some files to it to test and in order to do this I will need to free up some space on my SSD. I'll be sure to report back once I've been through this step.

warm regards,

Scott
