“Too Many Redirects” — Can’t Open Amazon With Safari On IPad

Hi Everyone,

I didn’t have any problem buying Kindle books off of Amazon as recently as last week until earlier today when Safari stopped opening the product pages because of “too many redirects”. I cleared my cache and turned off the “prevent cross-site tracking” option under the settings tab, but to no avail. Can someone please kindly advise how to solve this frustrating isssue? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

This is happening on android as well. All mobile browsers, not just safari and chrome. It started yesterday. It is not redirecting to the amazon mobile app correctly either. Even if you manually type in a valid web address for an amazon product, the amazon website adds up to 14 redirects to the address and off course it fails. This is an amazon problem and if more of us complain to them they should fix it quickly. I hope it does not mean they are trying to nix support for mobile browsers, because their mobile app does not have the same functionality as a browser does, specifically with affiliate links and smile.

Sorry for the double post... I’ve been trying out other web browsers. Opera Touch browser on ipad is working for me and preventing the malfunctioning redirects, though I’d rather be using safari or chrome, so hopefully Amazon fixes this. Firefox is not working.

I hear iOS 13 is supposed to allow safari to switch into default “request desktop site” (not requesting it per page load, but default, all-the-time request desktop site) but I can’t figure out how to do that. Maybe someone can weigh in. I imagine that would solve the issue for safari.

I just heard from Amazon support and they are aware of the problem and are working on fixing it. In the meantime, Opera Touch browser can get around their redirects, or maybe other browsers if you can force the, to request the desktop site.

I’m up to date on all browsers and still having the issue with every browser except Opera. Plenty of people reporting this problem elsewhere who are updated to 13.1.1 or on android. Amazon claims that this is their problem, so... if you are doing what I did and uninstalling and reinstalling everything and updating, it is probably a fluke if that fixes it for you! It didn’t fix it for me. I imagine it will be a while for amazon to roll out the fix, so maybe some product pages will load but others not.

Two ways around this while Apple works on it. Both are working for me on iPad. While in Amazon, go to iPad menu upper right and select “Request desktop site”. The problem here is you have to do this each time but you will get redirected.

Second fix that continues to work is using Amazon app.
