Can’t hear caller or voicemail on new iPhone 11. Had no problem with iPhone 5! Volume and ringer are set to high, IOS is updated, receiver is clean and plastic wrap is removed!

Can’t hear calls or voicemails on iphone 11 held to ear. Had no problem on old iPhone 5. Volume and ringer are set to high, IOS is current, receiver is clean, plastic wrap is removed.

Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems like there is trouble hearing people or voicemails on the iPhone. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting to solve this issue. Even though there is a chance that you've tried these steps already, I would recommend you follow every step and let us know if the issue persists.


"Restart and update

  1. Restart your iPhone and test again.
  2. If there's still no sound or poor sound quality, update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.


Get more help

If you tried these steps and there's still no sound or poor sound quality from your iPhone, contact Apple Support."


If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound isn't clear on your iPhone
