Can’t use WhatsApp after iOS 13 update

Hi there,

After updating my iPhone 6S + device to iOS 13, the WhatsApp app suddenly stopped working right.

Every time I enter the app it crashes after 1-2 seconds.

I tried troubleshooting and I discovered that from some reason the access to my contacts is causing the bug. Now I can only use WhatsApp without contacts which is really uncomfortable.

I tried: erasing and installing the app and also the contacts app, full reset and to my iPhone, updating each software update and nothing worked for me.

What should I do?

Hello reuven135 and welcome to Apple Support Communities.

I see you're having some issues with your contacts and how they interact with Whatsapp. I also see you've taken a fair number of steps to try to resolve it.

You say, you've done a full reset. Was that restore done as a new device or was it done restoring a backup? If it was from a backup, you'll want to 1) make sure you have a good and current backup now, and 2) use iTunes to restore the device and this time set it up as a new device for testing. If you do that and the issue is resolved, it would isolate the issue to something within the user data.

If the issue remains unresolved after setting up as new, then go ahead and restore your backup and then reach out to Whatsapp for further help.

Hello,

Current version of the WhatsApp Messenger app is 2.19.92 (updated 2 weeks ago).

Please make sure you update the app to the latest version for maximum compatibility.
