Enlarge iPhone photos from text messages

How do I enlarge a photo in a text message? Whether I double tap it, pinch out, single tap, all it does is select it to delete or share.

Hello Gr8Dayz

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you’re having trouble viewing a photo in Messages.

Typically, when you’re in Messages and have received a photo, tap it once to open it to full-screen. You’ll see the Share icon at the bottom of the screen where you can select from a list of options including copy, save, print, share, etc. This is the screen where you can also zoom in on the photo.

If this is not what’s happening when you go to tap on a photo follow the steps below. Be sure to test out viewing the photo in Messages after each:

1 - Go to Settings > General > Software Update and be sure that it’s up-to-date. If it’s not, create a backup following these steps: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. After the backup is complete, Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

2 - Force the Messages app to close by following these steps: How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

3 - Restart your iPhone following the steps for the model you have: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you’re still unable to enlarge the photo with one tap, Contact Apple Support for more assistance.

Enjoy the day.
