iPhone ringer volume keeps turning down

Since upgrading to iOS 13.1(now 13.1.2), the volume on the phone that that I normally have set on maximum level, keeps lowering on its own to about 25%. I became aware of the problem when my alerts (email, text, other alerts) were often barely audible if phone was in my pants pocket.

I can raise it back to maximum and it can lower on it's own within a few minutes even if the phone has not been in use, having any activity, or even wakened. One I time raised the volume, plugged it in to charge while in the car, picked it up less than two minutes later and the volume had dropped. In a thirty minute timeframe of checking, the volume dropped four times. The phone has now gone an hour without the volume changing so doesn't appear to be time related.

All though these events I did not use (or touch) the side volume buttons other than to raise it back to my normal levels.

Under settings/sounds & haptics, the Change with Buttons is on and does function.

I have an iPhone Pro Max 12, am on ios 14.4.2 and have the same problem. Additionally, I have 'change with buttons' off...but my side volume buttons still function the same. Totally confusing and annoying.

Apple..... WHEN are you going to address this issue.? Your phones are of no value if we mill all of our calls.

Funny, I've been having the opposite problem. When I'm using my Sony Bluetooth headphones, I want my text/ringer alerts to be on the lowest volume so my ears don't get blasted. Recently, my volume has been turning WAY up (like 60-70%) while I'm listening to music and I won't be aware until a text comes through and my ears get blasted out. I turn my volume down manually on my phone, but a minute or two later, it jumps back up on its own. This is so frustrating and also IT HURTS!

Mine is doing the same thing. Change with buttons is off. I've turned the phone off and on as well as turned the "change with buttons" on and then off. For a while today it stayed ok but then when I checked again it was at minimum volume. I need to be able to hear my ringer so this could present an issue. Any other ideas. I phone XR with 14.0.1 instilled.

I had this problem also but disabling or enabling volume control with the side buttons did not help. I think it has to do with my Apple Watch. There used to be a watch option to mirror the volume settings of the phone, that is no longer an option. If I mute my watch my phone will continually lower all the way. If I turn sound on on my watch the volume remains on on my iPhone.

I have two iPhones. They’ve both been upgraded to the new OS, and now they both have their volumes turned down, on their own consistently. I have tried all of the recommended solutions and nothing has worked. They both still turn the volume down on their own. Sometimes minutes after I have turned it back up. I firmly believe that it’s an OS bug. I’m hoping there would be a fix, because instead of waiting to upgrade with the new phones when they come out, I feel I might switch brands

I have an iPhone XS and have missed several important calls and notifications because my ringer and notification volume goes to minimum without any input from me. My “Change with Buttons” has always been off, but that does not seem to matter. I have to check the ringer volume a few times a day to check on its volume and have found it to be at minimum. If someone has a fix for this, please reply.

I feel there is not any fix we can do! Only Apple can do that, and it seems they will not acknowledge the problem!!! I had not made any changes to my 2 phones, no new apps .. nothing! Only the upgrade to the lastest OS...Yet after the upgrade, both phones are doing this...I look, volume down, I turn it up, and next time I check, volume down. This goes on on day long with Both phones. Was going to upgrade both phones with the new ones, but now thinking about that! I do not want to keep goes through the same problem What's the point

IKR!!!!! I sent my Iphone 8 plus to Carlisyle, PA -- because it wasn't taking selfies -- making it totally useless if I wanted to re-sell it.... But because it was in warranty/guarantee whatever time period, they shipped me a brand NEW (not a refurb) iphone -- and it doesn't stay put either when I adjust the volume on the side or in the settings! The Apple Store is too far to drive and I won't let Best Buy muck with my beautiful new iphone. So, I guess I will LIVE WITH THIS and hope the next update fixes the 'bug' -- evidently Apple has no clue how many people use our iphones as an ALARM CLOCK. Poo! :-(
