iPhone ringer volume keeps turning down

Since upgrading to iOS 13.1(now 13.1.2), the volume on the phone that that I normally have set on maximum level, keeps lowering on its own to about 25%. I became aware of the problem when my alerts (email, text, other alerts) were often barely audible if phone was in my pants pocket.

I can raise it back to maximum and it can lower on it's own within a few minutes even if the phone has not been in use, having any activity, or even wakened. One I time raised the volume, plugged it in to charge while in the car, picked it up less than two minutes later and the volume had dropped. In a thirty minute timeframe of checking, the volume dropped four times. The phone has now gone an hour without the volume changing so doesn't appear to be time related.

All though these events I did not use (or touch) the side volume buttons other than to raise it back to my normal levels.

Under settings/sounds & haptics, the Change with Buttons is on and does function.

I have an iPhone Pro Max 12, am on ios 14.4.2 and have the same problem. Additionally, I have 'change with buttons' off...but my side volume buttons still function the same. Totally confusing and annoying.

Apple..... WHEN are you going to address this issue.? Your phones are of no value if we mill all of our calls.

Hi,

This issue is happening in my phone as well. I’m using an iPhone 8 Plus. I’d like to point out to something in your post that you’ve asked:

-Do you have any wired, or Bluetooth headphones connected to your iPhone when you notice this behavior? If so, when you disconnect the headphones, does the behavior remain?

I’ve noticed that after I disconnect a call that I received using my AirPods, the ringer goes down to pretty much nothing. Restarting doesn’t solve the problem. I’m missing a lot of calls due to this. I recently upgraded to iOS 13.4 but that hasn’t helped. Please suggest a way to get this solved.

Thanks

Ankit

I have an iPhone X, every morning my ringer volume “decreases” to 25% or lower. The normal volume by contrast will “increase” every morning, and I have to turn that down. The alarm volume periodically drops to where I can’t hear it in the morning. I’m running the most current update and I’ve turned off the change with buttons option. But every morning I have to change my ringtone & sound volume back to the settings I had the day before. I have an iWatch 5, if that might have anything to do with it. The problem started about the time I got my iWatch in October/November.

This is happening to me to, with iOS 13.5.

There is a bug in the Music app. (I found out about this in other online forums). It can reproduced as follows: Start playing music. Lock the phone. On the Lock Screen, pause the music. Now if you adjust volume using the side buttons, the volume of Ringer and Alerts is changed (even if you have disabled Change With Buttons in Settings).

My iPhone XR keeps lowering the volume on its own. I get a call and the volume just goes down on its own. I’ve tried to everything and nothing works. I’ve also looked up online to see what I could do. I’ve tried their recommendations and they don’t work. What could be the problem? Also, not all my calls go through. Calls drop. I can’t hear the person or they can’t hear me. Please let me know what to do.

My Ford doesn’t have blue tooth or any other way to connect to my iPhone so this is not a vehicle related issue Since my iPhone 7 does the volume reduction to me all the time. My phone self adjusts whether or not I am using Bluetooth. I maybe a couple of weeks between connecting to another device and I often turn Bluetooth off when not using it.

Apple needs to fix this. Like many others, I use my phone as an alarm clock and get emergency response notifications through my phone.

Once again, I DO NOT connect my iPhone to my vehicle. I do not know what CarPlay is.

I witnessed my volume decrease last night last night after my post when I connected to my Bose A20 but the reduction seems to happen more often than when I fly and that is the only time I use Bluetooth. I am not normally looking at my phone when the headset gets power but last night I forgot to enable Bluetooth beforehand and was looking at the Bluetooth connections when it connected. At the same time it connected the ringer volume flashed on screen and showed 25% or less. Apple needs to fix or my next phone will be likely be Android. As a first responder I need my ringer at full volume 100% of the time without having to worry about remembering to check and reset at random.

iPhone 7 doesn’t have the attention aware “feature” (thankfully). I had to disable that on my girlfriend’s XR to fix a different problem she was having. I think the programmers are just causing problems for job security. Of course it would be nice if they would actually fix some of the problems they cause instead of just adding to them. I don’t believe this is a bug. I think it was one of their “improvements” or it would have been fixed already.
