Series 5 Apple Watch has no red on the crown?

How come in every image I see of the Apple Watch Series 5 it has a red ring on the side of the crown, but mine doesn’t?

Hello,

The "red" on the crown indicates the cellular version which is more expensive. If the one that you have, does not have the red, it is the less expensive GPS version. See this for more detail:

Following on from what MrBill3 said, the only difference between the GPS and the GPS + Cellular version is that you have to pay $10 / month extra to your carrier to allow your watch to make and receive phone calls / messages / use data if your phone isn't within Bluetooth range (usually 50-100 yards/meters).

So unless you are regularly in the habit of saying "darn, I left my phone at home and I want to be able to use Messages, Maps and Apple Pay without having my phone on me (and I'd be happy to pay $10 a month, every month, to be able to do that)" then you've probably made the right decision to have the Apple Watch GPS instead of paying the extra $100 upfront for the Cellular Watch model on top of the $10 monthly extra cost!
