I'm having trouble with my phone and it's 2019 and I see that I should be on version 12.4.2 but both my phone and iTunes say 10.3.4 is up to date. I'm having issues with internet connectivity on this device and wonder if it's all related.

If it's running 10.3.4, it's an iPhone 5, not an iPhone 5s, and can't be updated further. The only change made in 10.3.4 was to fix an issue with the GPS in older devices; no other iPhones will have that specific version.

I see you're facing some difficulty with updating an iPhone 5S past the current installation of iOS 10.3.4. You may need to do this via iTunes and Recovery Mode.

Ah, thank you. I was under the impression I had a 5s but looking up the model number I see it was a 5.
