Hi Everyone. There is another (short) post regarding same issue. It's called "AW Cellular S3 Nike - Call Failed every time... A solution was posted on that string that worked for me as I can now answer calls on my watch. It states:

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Phone, and turn off Wi-Fi Calling and Calls on Other Devices.

In the Watch app on your iPhone, go to My Watch > General > Enable Handoff, and disable Handoff.

Restart both devices, then turn these features back on.

Here's more about Wi-Fi Calling and how calls are delivered to other devices:

Make and receive calls on your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling - Apple Support

Let me know if this works, test while connected and not connected to Wi-Fi.

Good luck.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

This is the web address for the U.K. Apple support:

https://getsupport.apple.com/?caller=psp&PRKEYS=PF28

i Found it by going to my country Apple web address, click support in the top menu, then the watch icon lower down the page, then connectivity, and it gives you an option of email, telephone or web chat. I’ve used both telephone and web chat to report my watch problems.

it’s very easy to do, and necessary to get any action on this.

hope that helps.

it’s worth trying replacing your battery to see if it resolves the issue as it did for me, been testing for 2 days now and it’s working great.

On a side note, I have found a few ways to get the calls to work via Apple Watch, this is when I was facing the issue.

  1. When your phone is unlocked/screen activated, calling feature would always work
  2. Plug in your AirPods and the feature will again always work, this might be something to do with the handoff feature that Apple offers.

I am struggling with this problem with Apple Support, but they usually say...RESET phone and Watch. I reseted Watch, cleared all settings in iPhone SE. What left is to restore from iTunes the stock version of iOS. Of course i think it won't help but i have to do this, otherwise they will not contact engineers at Apple.

In a few days i will try to pair Watch with another iPhone SE to check the behaviour

. If this won't help i will again call to Apple Support to increase the priority of this and pass this infromation to engineers at Apple.

If you have possibility to do this you can try and report your results.

Thanks.

Well, when this problem started and left my iPhone SE at Apple for service, I was given an iPhone 8 as a loan phone. Guess what, I had the same issue still. My boss has an iphone 10 and an AW Series 5. He also has the same issue/s which would be:

  1. Slow, laggy Siri connection.
  2. calls drop or don’t go through when initiated from the watch.
  3. apps connect slowly
  4. under the health app device list: 2 identical apple watches show up: one device connected but has no data; the other device is “no longer paired with iphone” has all the active data.
  5. when bluetooth is disabled on the watch, everything works fine.

so it’s def an OS issue since watchOS 6. And one last thing: whenever I went back to the Apple store, all functionality works. I believe they either have a Bluetooth repeater or the local WiFi network is very strong. So I couldn’t show them anything in the shop apart from the duplicate watch listed on my phone. Very frustrating.

My watch is a series 4 on 6.1.1 iPhone SE on iOS 13.3. Perfect until I updated to OS6.

i have tried my watch with another iPhone SE on 13.3 and experienced the exact same problems and I have also been able to try my watch on an iPhone 8 when it worked perfectly, just as it should.

so a combination of watch and iPhone SE, starts occurring when the watch is updated to OS6........

Sorry about the mistake regarding what iOS my wife and I are running. I should have wrote iOS 13.3! Also, as has been the experience of others, after going through the lock iPhone-call fails —> unlock iPhone-calls work procedure my wife and my Watches can successfully call even when our iPhones are locked. But, others have said this joy only lasts for a while and the problem returns. I’ll let you know if that happens.

I had the same problem with my IPhone SE on iOS 13.3 and 3 different S5 watches with watchOS 6.1.1. So I am wondering does anyone know of anyone with an iPhone SE that does have not issues with the watch. Interestingly enough the second watch I tried was the worst of the bunch. It couldn't even unpair without errors.

I chatted to Apple support a couple of times, the first time for 2 hours. I requested a bug number and was told they were aware of the issue but did not have a bug number. The second time Apple support said the issue was with my cellular provider, hence I returned the 3rd watch today while it was still in the returns period. I didn't want the hassle of returning it under warranty. I am going to speak to my cellular provider tomorrow to see if they agree with Apple.

I have an iPhone SE running iOS 13.3 and an Apple Watch S4 running watchOS 6.1.1. Previously I was not able to answer phone calls on my watch following these updates, but I'm now able to answer calls successfully on my watch again after trying the above Settings steps but with leaving both WiFi calling and Handoff disabled.

Even with those changes I'm still encountering unreliability when using Siri on my watch after the iOS 13/watchOS 6 updates. Commands still tend to take longer to complete (but usually do complete eventually), and oftentimes when asking Siri to set a timer I still get the "Uh oh, lost the connection. Let me try that again." response right before she does set the timer requested (sometimes she does it immediately though like how it was with iOS 12/watchOS 5, usually immediately following a restart).

There definitely seems to be some sort of change in the WiFi and/or Bluetooth handling for the iPhone SE following the iOS 13 update that is causing these problems.

I understand that the vast majority of posters here are having problems with Apple Watch if they are using an iPhone SE. I have an iPhone 6s+. The SE and 6s series of iPhones have similar internal hardware. So I should be having problems too. And I am. But if I hard reset my Watch and iPhone I can often regain functionality. BUT THE PROBLEM RETURNS. Unfortunately, there is no way to know the Watch is not accepting incoming calls again until someone smacks you across the face and asks why you are ignoring their calls...which happened today when my wife's car broke down and she was desperately trying to call me (I am a teacher and don't carry my iPhone into class. I assume if any important calls come in, I can get it on my cellular Watch. WRONG). Luckily, my wife was able to connect with a friend who helped her. This is really poor form on Apple's part. An acceptable solution is not to have to buy a new iPhone.

iOS 13.4 is probably being released tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24. I an not running the Grand Master release on my iPhone so I can’t say if it will help call functionality with the Apple Watch using the iPhone SE. But one can hope. What still mystifies me is that my family owns two iPhone 6s and one 6s+ and calls on our Apple Watches are working fine after a brief period of failures several months ago. We did have to go through the steps mentioned earlier by others where we unlocked our phones BEFORE trying to make calls, etc. And for us, those steps worked long term. Anyway, since the SE and 6s series have the same hardware it’s weird the problem seems centered on the SE only. My fingers are crossed for all of you on Tuesday. Let’s see if updating your iPhones and Apple Watches (WatchOS has an update coming too) helps. Kind regards, Mr. Luigi

from Japan.
I use Google Translate.

Updating to watchOS6.2 iOS13.4 did not improve the problem.
I contacted Support again to confirm the status, but no other reports of this matter were received, and no response was received from Apple.
In addition, he said, "This is an individual problem with the iPhone, so we will repair it. It will be charged without warranty. This is the official answer as a manufacturer."
If you have iPhone warranty, please have it replaced. In that case, you need to confirm that there is a problem with the iPhone at the store. No problem with hardware test.
