What procedure should I follow if I accidentally dropped a new 11 in salt water? It stayed under water for 2-3 minutes.

Just to add that only problem I had after that was with ear microphone. I couldn't hear loud enough person I was talking with. Now it's fine, probably after it got dried. Do you think there will be consequences in the future?
Any electronics that has been wet with salt water will eventually start corroding. Once that happens it will certainly develop all kinds of problems. Get it replaced now before that happens.
If it is working, back it up. I recommend backing up to both iTunes and iCloud ASAP.
Nothing you can do without insurance on the device. It must be replaced.
Accidental damage and water damage are not covered by the standard warranty.
Take to your local Apple Store. Hopefully they will sell you an out of warranty replacement for it and recycle that one for you.
