USB-C / BootCamp Windows 10 Issue

Hey there,

For the past fourteen months or so, I've been running Windows 10 on my MacBook Pro (2017) using a small 'case' to Thunderbolt 3 adapter - Apologies, I don't know the terminology or what it is called, but if needs be, I can upload a picture. Anywho, once plugged in, I can normally go to System Preferences > Startup Disk and select the disk titled "'Windows' BootCamp," which then, in turn, restarts my Mac on the Windows 10 operating system. However, last night, when I attempted to do the usual process, the disk/file wouldn't show up and once I plugged in the 'case,' the screen froze and the cursor became the rainbow wheel. I've tried the usual: Restart (with/without plugging the 'case' in); updating the software; etc., but to no avail. Please help me out here, as I need to get Windows 10 up and running as soon as possible, and I'd prefer not to have to download Virtual Machines, etc.

Thanks!

If you can post the brand/model of the TB3 that should help.

The Restart attempt to Windows did not fully complete.

  • Are macOS set to Automatic?
  • Does macOS boot properly?
  • Leave the 'case' aside, till we can address the Windows issue.
  • Are Windows Automatic Updates enabled?

If you are able to boot into macOS normally, run Terminal, and post the output of

diskutil list

Yes, macOS is working & boots perfectly fine - I cannot check anything Windows related, because I can literally not boot into Windows. It doesn't show up anywhere.
