Landscape view issues with google maps since updating to iOS 13

Ever since the latest update when using google maps in landscape view all the indicators up top ( cell signal, clock, and battery disappear. This creates a big nuisance as I use my gps all day for work and not being able to tell what my battery status is or the current time is aggravating. They are all there in portrait mode but not landscape. Is this a known issue?
