iPhone 11Pro max with scratch/crack after one week.

I just literally got my new iPhone 11 Pro Max on September 30th of 2019. I purchased through the Apple Upgrade program and purchased the AppleCare+. The second I pulled the phone out of the box, I placed it inside a OtterBox Defender Pro case. I have never dropped it nor stuck inside my pockets. Today I noticed a little scratch/crack that I can feel with my finger. I was under the assumption that this new phone was bullet proof and the screen could be put inside a ladies purse without getting scratched. This is how it was sold at the Apple event when they released it to the world. I am kind of upset about my new phone. Has anybody else had this issue or is it just me.
