Battery icon shows MacBook is charging when it is not

I have a Macbook Pro with Touch Bar that recently started having problems with the battery icon. When the computer is not plugged in, the icon still shows that it is charging (the battery is filled with black and has a lightning bolt). Additionally, when I plug in the computer it does not make the sound it usually does to show that it has been plugged in. Luckily, the computer does still charge.

Try using another USB-C port especially on the other side of the laptop.

Try an SMC reset.

Most likely you have a hardware issue of some sort. Take the laptop to Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined.
