WatchOS 6 turning Bluetooth off?

It’s seems since updating to WatchOS 6 flight mode no longer deactivates Bluetooth. How do I switch it off?

Hello sdf3ts,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that Bluetooth doesn't turn off when your Apple Watch is in Airplane Mode. I can see how this could be concerning. I'm happy to help.

It's possible that your settings for Airplane Mode have been saved from your iPhone. To keep Bluetooth off in Airplane Mode on your Apple Watch follow the steps below.

  1. Enable Airplane Mode from the Apple Watch Control Center
  2. On the Apple Watch go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth Off.
  3. Disable Airplane Mode and enable again.

When Airplane Mode is turned back on, the Bluetooth setting should have been saved and Bluetooth should remain disabled while in Airplane mode going forward. Take a look at the following resource for more information on Airplane mode

Use Airplane Mode on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch

Let us know the results. Please include any troubleshooting steps you may have tried.
