helpermcp is popping up

It sounds like adware or malware. Download and run the free version of Malwarebytes. It should remove it.

Malwarebytes was developed by a long time contributor to these forums and a highly respected member of the computer security community.

That's malware, my advice would be for you to run Malwarebytes and remove any threats you might have on your Mac.

Download Malwearbytes and run a scan. Unfortunately, hundreds of Apple users who did not already have Malwearbytes installed got infected with helpermcp.

I used Malware Scan: https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/ and it removed the pop-up for me

I have the same problem after update to Catalina from Mojave.

Please, help how to fix this?

Thanks. This worked perfectly. Wasn’t about to install more software (Malwarebytes) when it can be handled at the system level.

Activate Finder

Enter helpermcp in search box (upper right corner)

You will see the helpermcp app plus a .plist file

Drag the plist file to trash first ( this will prevent the app coming back again)

Then drag the app to trash

Presto - Popup is gone.

I stopped it with „Combo Cleaner“

Done in 10 minutes! 👍👍👍
