iPhone keeps changing format of my phone numbers

Hi.

Recently my iPhone has been changing the format of my phone numbers. I can only rectify this by changing the Region from UK to US and then back to UK again.

This has happened twice today and when it occurs I am unable to make/receive phone calls.

For example, a UK phone number in my phonebook should be stored:

07890 123456

When the problem occurs all of my phonebook numbers are changed to:

07 890 123456

When I look in settings the region is still UK but I have to toggle it like I explained above.

Any ideas?

One thing that seems to work for a lot of people is to change all of your Contacts entries to E.164 format. That is, instead of 01234 567890, change it to +44 1234 567890. Then the telephone version of Auto-Correct won't change your good phone numbers into bad ones.

I have exactly the same problem as esteban reyes, with a new iPhone 11. I have tried all possible fixes (switching regions back and forth, disabling Dial Assist, reinserting SIM, checking iCloud region setting), but the phone keeps switching UK format to Belgium format, so that 01234 becomes 01 23 4. Very annoying as it keeps doing it randomly on a daily basis. I’m really hoping for a fix for this, as I’ve never experienced it with an iPhone before and it seems to be an issue common to many users.

I did have an 'online chat' with apple support and they have told me that they can't help as it is an issue with the carrier/mobile provider ... whether this is the case or not who knows, as the apple support team just seem to be following a script with their responses.

I'm with Virgin Mobile (uses EE network) and have looked at their 'Community' support forum and there seem to be many there with the same issue and posts/responses from Virgin team don't offer any solution ... next step is to contact Virgin Support directly ... watch this space, although I don't hold out much hope!!!

I have the same problem since upgrading(!!) to iOS 13 .... all my contacts are continually changing from UK format to what looks like a French or Belgian style format (see screen grabs below) . I have tried correcting this by changing language/region in settings more times than I care to think, but the fix only lasts a matter of minutes, not even hours, until the formatting goes wrong again. This obviously affects incoming calls, messages, chats, etc as my contacts are not identified properly. Has anyone found a cure for this ..PLEASE! ... anyone from apple tech out there?
