Mac Os Catalina do not sync photos with iOS Devices

Im using Mac OS Catalina 10.15, I have my photos on the Photos App, (I do not use iCloud photos).

To sync the photos, I connect the iPad to the Mac, open Finder (Since iTunes is gone), select the iPad from (locations) go to the right and click on Photos, select the albums and then hit sync. All the photos are not synced and apparently it syncs the albums under the root "My Albums" but is not able to sync the albums that are inside a folder.

Glad to hear that the second sync went well. I decided to wait until next week to try as my 2019 photos will be added to the appropriate albums. What I found I needed to remember, when adding new photos to their albums, I was to add them to the original album & the duplicate. Eventually, if Apple ever gets their act together, I will be able to delete the duplicate albums and go back to my albums in folders.

My issue remains unresolved. I’ve done hours with phone support, and the Genius Bar gave up. Full factory resets, library “repairs”, changes in mapping structure... nothing has worked. My phone continue to have odd duplicates and triplicates and other sync Issues.

I did a full report on the photos issue page with apple. My guess is apple will

have to implement a massive fix with some upcoming Catalina and iOS updates. I hope we don’t have to wait until the next Mac OS.

Yesterday I was working with Apple Support by phone to recover some mail which Catalina seems to have lost. That support was successful. So I asked the fellow helping me to check whether Apple was working this Photos synch problem. He said it is a known issue and, therefore, they are working to correct. So, I am optimistic that eventually the issue will be corrected.

Not only is it not working, it seems to have taken photos that had the correct date/exif info and scattered it all over. I now can’t even make smart albums by date or year because it’s saying photos were taken in 1969. (Which were dated correctly before all of this).

I did delete the dated folders everyone was referencing previously from old old versions of iPhoto but that should have only removed the link to the photo, not the date/exif info. Really really mad about this.

Let me know when you will force them to payback because photos with some great features was also the reason why I spent currently more then USD 5.000 for my new MacBook Pro 16" with 4 TB.

Would it make sense if everyone here in this chat would write a complain on a daily basis? I mean if there are only 50 of us each day this are 350 messages per week and 1400 per month?

There’s no legitimate or actionable legal issue here, but it is unfortunate that such a massive issue was allowed to make it to market.

I would encourage everyone to keep posting issues here with details for the apple team to be able to make a fix.

We all know that at any moment there are thousands of fixes being worked on, and those are only released as batches in discrete updates. Here is hoping the next major update of Catalina and ios13 has the fix.

Since page two on this thread, I said, Apple senior or executive, blah blah blah. They don't care and treat us like garbage.

They care about emoji and more emoji.

The only way to sync is to create a new folder for photos at photos on finder.

And the same for videos.

And after that, you can sync it.

Of course, this is not the proper way but at least works for me on many devices.

I have experienced sync issues with Sierra, High Sierra and now Mojave so I kind of expect it when upgrading. It's not right but all we can do is report them to Apple.

What is frustrating is that by the time Apple sort the issues out we're on to the next generation Mac OS and back to square one!

Best regards

Yes, on finder. Anywhere, but it is better in pictures.

Macintosh hd> Pictures>

After this step you can create the folder you prefer.

For example:

Macintosh hd> Pictures>iPhone Photos>

And you can create any folder.

After that you can choose it from iTunes which folders you can sync.

The same action for videos too in Movies folder.

Works like charm. The main disadvantage is it takes the double space if you have the photos in photos app on Mac.

I hope this was helpful.

Apple does not treat us as customer anymore.
