Mac Os Catalina do not sync photos with iOS Devices

same here - 10.15.4 did NOT change anything - Finder / Wifi / USB Sync of Photos is NOT working.

I tried all the typical solutions like rebooting, restoring, disiable / enable photo sync - NOT working.

It feels like one is pushed to iCloud photos, yet... This is an unacceptable situation for me, maybe I have to leave the Apple ecosystem.

I never tried syncing using iCloud yet. I have plenty of storage, to make it happen. I only have 1394 photos, which is a tiny fraction, compared to some people on this thread. I guess it’s worth a shot.

So I just did a second sync and it's definitely not working correctly.

I now have 7379 photos and 88 videos on my phone which is more than the 6587 photos and 85 videos on my Mac.

Places have gone up to 4676 on my phone. Mac still shows 1.

People now match at 41 each but there are still. 8 blanks.

First attempt to sync my photos folders and albums to phone failed. Rebooted phone and iMac. Went through sync again and it was a lengthy process - iTunes was never this slow. I then looked on my phone and there was an Album - however it had 3 photos instead of 95. After a few moments I noticed it had 5 photos and found it said syncing at the bottom of the album and was adding either 1 or a small bunch of photos every few seconds. In the time I have written this it has synced about 80. Quite bizarre but my phone is also no longer connected to Finder - what is going on????

Sadly I have given up hope and moved to another photography platform.

• Apple has forgotten us
• They have put out the worst OS since the introduction of OSx
• Catalina is an unmitigated disaster in every sense of the word
  • I have moved back to OS 10.14.6 but sadly since the Photos app had been updated for Catalina, there is no going backwards, which is why I have abandoned Photos and moved along
• I should not have to figure out the technology, it should work the way we work
• iPhone & iPad is still awesome, but Apple has neglected and forgotten about the very users (like me) who helped make them the creative force they used to be. My entire agency runs on Apple and we are all back on 10.14.6 so the machines will actually run and we can actually make a living

Very strange as my MacBook has sorted itself out & has synced to both my iPad Pro & iPhone XR . At the moment happy again with Apple. Fortunately i have time machine backups of Mojave on my LaCie drive.

moral if the story keep backups, especially when updating to the next OS X balls up. Just saying 😣

@prlblue: Re. Good idea with the time mashine backup: However did you know that if you backup your contacts in the cloud they are NOT backed up on time mashine? I lost 80% of my 400+ contacts last week in the cloud and searched them on my daily time mashine backup. Apple confirmed that they are safed either in the cloud OR on time mashine. (...and they had not been in the last iCloud.com backups)

In addition to the sync mistake of my 23.000+ photos since more than a year I worked now for three days getting back info of the lost contacts.

As most of you confirmed here: Apple has lost his premium approach since quiet a while. Time to say goodbye.

I agree that Apple have let us all down. I have $5000 cash in the bank that I have stopped myself spending with Apple to buy a new Mac because the relationship is coming to an end. Not because there have been problems but because Apple has failed to address them or seemingly care. I have been an Apple user for decades, bought the first iPod and iPhones and built all my digital life on Mac.

Can those leaving with me suggest the best alternative to Photos and another platform...

Adding some of my same & similar issues as below. Which I'm using iPhone 7 in iOS 13.4

1. Some old People names whom I do not want to see and deleted in MacOS Photos are still showing up in iOS.
2. Lots of duplicate photos in the albums

And issues in iPad Pro in iOS 13.4

1. Some duplicate photos in the albums as well
2. Erased all the photos after updated the iOS

All of them? I have nearly every folder or album missing 5 - 10 photos. Have also now discovered that in the first Catalina sync last year I must have lost several photos. Even though backed up - no easy way of finding them as they would need an older OS and photos app to view/organise them. Viewing package contents is next to useless.

Just updated and put my albums back in the events folder and they all synced apart from one folder that had modified photos in, for some reason photos doesn’t recognise modified photos anymore! When I resynced it’s duplicated some folders by copying certain pictures again so one album has 10 pictures but on my phone I have 20! Can not believe Apple can’t fix something so simple!

Just got my new iPad Pro 12,9" 2020 synching photos from my iMac. The iPad comes with IOS 13.4.

About 7000 of my 12000 photos appear as black squares on my iPad after syncing from iMac. Restart and resets didn't work, will call Apple support tomorrow.

If they cannot offer a fix I will send the iPad back for refund, I have enough.

Not solved for me yet (at MacOS 10.15.4 and IOS 12.4.6 (iPhone 6)).

Won't sync Folders and won't even sync all my photos even when I select "sync all photos and albums".

(and no my iPhone's memory is not full)

Sadly the new upgrades have not solved the problem, even using iCloud syncing

The biggest flaw...I can no longer import photos from my camera SD card into my iPad

Totally disappointed and getting very frustrated with Apple

Now I have he same situation I had 7 years ago when I switched from MS Windows to MacOS. Now I am considering moving to Windows 10, as Apple is not capable solving the sync problem for almost 1 year.

Shame on you, Apple!
