Macintosh HD partition was split into 3 after installing Catalina and doing Time Machine restore to Mojave

Macintosh HD partition was split into 3 after installing Catalina and doing Time Machine restore to Mojave.


Here is the screenshot of what I have now:



But in Disk Utility I see the following:





Also, I can't do backups and receive the following error:



Please assist.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I see you've got an unusual issue with macOS Catalina and I'd like to help you get the assistance needed.


With macOS Catalina, you will see two Macintosh HD drives, one which will be "Data", as shown here: About Disk Utility on Mac


However, having a duplicate "Data" drive is not expected, and looks to be why Time Machine is giving you that error.


I'd recommend contacting Apple Support so they take a further look at what could have happened.
