Been stuck on following screen since last night when I tried updating my Mac. First part was quick and easy and then it went to this screen. Unfortunately I’ve restarted a few times after leaving it a maximum of five hours?
Been doing it again since about 4:30pm (so about three hours) and intend to leave it overnight but has anyone else been stuck on this screen? There’s not even any indication of how far or even a countdown?

Still going. Now down to 13 minutes remaining.
I felt I had no option but to do this and luckily everything was there.
Not sure if this will always be the case (or will be the same for everyone) but it gave me access to my old system and I was able to backup for when/if I try updating again
Mine hung for a long time, then attempted by itself to restart several times. The last time it got further on the install bar, indicating 25 minutes left. It seems to be slowly moving the bar along now, but it still says 25 minutes and it has been longer than that.
In the end I just:
Shift-Option-⌘-R
Reinstall the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available
and reinstalled Mojave. Think I’ll wait till Catalina has probs ironed out

I’ve now been running this for over 12 hours and it hasn’t moved? Any advice would be appreciated
Was all your info still there after you did this? I’m having the same issues
If you end up doing what did then remember you are updating the system and not reformatting the drive.

I just had the exact same problem.
I also reinstalled Mojave from recovery mode.
Hopefully, a future version will work with my system.
I'm on a late-2012 mac mini.
