can't see lyrics in Apple Music for songs I owned
I can't see lyrics in Music for songs that were already in my iTunes library vs songs I added from Apple Music directly. Why is this?

Lyrics only show up for music that is part of Apple Music. Music that you added yourself, and therefore is upload to Apple's servers is never "looked" at by Apple and therefore would not have someone add lyrics to it.
Alas, lyrics are not just an automatic thing. There are even "older" songs that are part of Apple Music that still do not have lyrics. Maybe someday they will, maybe they will not. There are even some newer, but obscure, songs that I have added to my music library that do not have lyrics either.
With that said, you can always add the lyrics to songs yourself by searching for them online and copying and pasting them into the Lyrics tab when you right-click on a song and choose "Get Info"
