instagram notifications security risk

Tapping on an Instagram notification on my iPad lock screen unlocks it, bypassing the fingerprint/password requirement not just for Instagram but for everything else on the device. Security totally compromised.

Many thanks skydiver119. No, it’s not to do with the lockout time. However long my iPad has been locked, one tap on the Instagram notification unlocks it totally. I’ve got round it by disabling notifications for Instagram, but I guess that’s hardly the point! Thank you for the link to Apple; I’ll notify them.

I don’t have notifications turned on for instagram, but in other apps I do and if I tap on that notification during the unlock period, then it takes me directly to the app. But if the device is already locked, it only takes me to the passcode page.

So you may wish to check the lockout time you have set on your device. Say it’s 30 minutes for your lockout and you get a notification 15 minutes into that 30 minute limit, it will take you directly to the app. But if it’s at 32 minutes into the lockout period, you should go to the passcode page.

If you experiment and the app does bypass the passcode page, then let Apple know
