2-year AppleCare+ plan just expired, and I cannot add the monthly plan

My 2-year AppleCare+ plan just expired about 3 weeks ago on my iPhone 6s. The Apple support site and Apple's Agreement team all state that I can convert to a monthly plan. However, when I log into mysupport.apple.com, the site just says my plan is expired. there are NO options to add the monthly AppleCare+ plan. What is the exact process for doing this?

See this article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210580

In the United States, when you purchase AppleCare+ coverage for your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, you can choose to pay monthly or pay upfront for 24 months of coverage. (For Apple Watch Edition and Hermes, you can pay upfront for 36 months.) If you paid upfront, you can renew coverage on a monthly basis after the 24 or 36 months is over.

Monthly plans automatically renew until canceled.

The support document does offer this:

When my 24 or 36 months of coverage ends, how do I renew coverage on a monthly basis?
Renew your coverage at mysupport.apple.com. You can renew your coverage within 60 days of the end date of your original coverage.

There's also a discussion about it in the WC by babowa if you want to check it out Demo.

I missed that in the support article. I’m getting old and my vision ain’t what it used to be. 😩 I looked for the discussion in the WC and didn’t find it, but again, I’m getting older and .....

I had no idea that Apple came out with this new coverage plan, but from what I read here, if you had the standard two year plan, you can’t upgrade to the monthly plan now.

I hope for your sake, that I am wrong, but this is what that article says.

If you’ve already got AppleCare+ on a device, there doesn’t seem to be any way to switch over to the monthly plan. This is for recent purchases only; you’ve got 60 days from the time of buying a device to add AppleCare+.

I will offer this last tidbit and bow out of this conversation.

Leave it to Apple to be as clear as mud as to how you can extend the plan. That site that you referenced answers the “can I” questions, but offers none of the “how to” answers. If it is in that support article, I don’t see it.

You would think they would include a link to the appropriate article, but they don’t.
