Passcode problems

so i have updated to IOS13 recently. Now for some reason my iPad froze. So i tried to shut it down, but i could not even slide the power of icon. i had to say "tap off". Now I turned it back on the passcode won't enter. the circles are not responding to the numbers as i enter them. the microphone is off so i can't say "tap 5" etc.

what to do?
