I have an app I use all the time that required the Legacy Java SE 6 runtime to be installed. On Catalina it get the message that there is a newer version installed and I cannot install it. Is there a way to get the Legacy Java SE 6 runtime on Catalina?
Java SE6 will not run on Catalina. You will need to have the App supplier issue an update or return to Mojave like many users probably have.
Please kindly assist on what to do to solve this problem of unable to install Legacy Java SE 6 runtime on Catalina(error message: there is a newer version already installed and cannot install it) to run my apps? Please this is really worrisome...
Perhaps remove the newer version. However, Apple may have dropped support for their version of Java.
I too need Java SE 6 runtime in order to be able to run an application for my weather station data - there is no prospect of it ever being updated. I have run through the procedure to remove Java (twice) using Terminal to enter the syntax offered by the Java website. The Java icon has gone from the Systems Preferences tab. I have restarted the Mac but still I see the message to the effect that a newer version is installed.
Any ideas?
