delete artwork in Catalina music app

Bizarrely I'm finding that if I delete artwork on some tracks in Music now the track shows a time increase of about 14 seconds (a 3:28 track now says 3:42 and a 5:56 track now says 6:10)!

What's happening there???

Is this in Catalina or Mojave? You'll probably find a short section is now repeated at the end. Other than restoring from backup or finding a lossless trimming tool there isn't an obvious way to undo the damage once done.

This is in Catalina, editing artwork was never a problem in Mojave (in iTunes).

The track isn't actually longer, it still plays at the original length and stops (or moves on to the next track) at that point but the time column is now showing an extra 16 seconds (not 14 seconds as I said before, I misread my times).

It looks like somehow the time 'tag' got messed up.

I hope Apple will fix this soon with a new update. There are several other features as well that make it more difficult to work with than iTunes. I have to say I much preferred iTunes to this new 'improved' Music app! 🤨

Sounds like it. There are reports of iTunes 12.9.5.5 in Mojave actually tagging on extra content, but I haven't got around to trying to replicate it myself.
