Duplicated and repeating text input in macOS Catalina

I do not think you need to uninstall the Wacom drivers.

I just tested and it seems sufficient to remove the Input Monitoring privacy rights from

Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Input Monitoring

From there, remove the rights from WacomTouchDriver and WacomTableDriver. Problem solved.

You may want to experiment with one or the other or both or even reactivating later as it seems the problem kind of goes away after reactivation. Worst case, keep it all deactivated.

Last note.

It seems that problem is caused by running wacom drivers. Here is Wacom's guide how to get rid of all related files from all corners of mac os.

I didn''t try to install wacom drivers again. If someone will try it, please, let us know if new drivers work properly.

For now it seems problem disapeared on my macbook. I hope it's not only temporary.

• I uninstalled all software from wacom (tablet drivers etc.)
• uninstalled Logitech Options
• install new Logi Options for Catalina

Is there someone who uses Logitech and can try this?

Looks like this helped. No duplication for about 15 minutes after removing all Wacom programs and files.

MacBook Pro keyboard? From 2016? Or external keyboard? There are some issues with the butterfly keyboard on MBP from 2016. But if I understood well, your issue is a Software Problem. If you restart with in Safe Mode (with Shift-Key pressed) does it persist?

I have the same issue with Apple's external keyboard (I almost don't use build-in keyboard). In most cases the standard restart solves the issue, but not every time. After wake up from sleep the problem with typing is back.

Just note, the issue persists when I connected the keyboard to the MacBook by cable to charge the keyboard. So it imho isn't problem with bluetooth.

I have a similar problem with a 2018 MacBook Pro. It started immediately after upgrading to Catalina.

Just to get hardware out of the way as a factor, the keyboard had mechanical problems, of a different kind. Some keys failed to register a keystroke because they were stuck on the way back to the resting position, but not deep enough to keep firing.

Unlike other people reporting words and multi-key fragments duplicating, I just see character duplication. Space, Dvorak 't', and 'm' are the most frequently duplicated characters (are they in the same column?). They may simply be the most frequent characters in English.

I do not have any non-Apple drivers. The only possibly related driver-like component is Karabiner Elements, which gives me the right-hand Ctrl key.

I have the same problem, and it drives me insane as I work with a lot of text. And communicating with this issue makes me look like I have some kind of mental problem; not problematic in work environment at all :(

Samae problem....(see)...installed new Caatalina...problem seemed to get better for a while and now back. Very annoying...causes problems with passwords. Trired different keyboards...same problems....all errors in this text are caused by the problem. Come on Apple!!!

Same issue on macbook pro 15 mid 2014 internal keyboard. A similar issue is that CMD+V may paste the text twice. Basically, any keyboard action may get duplicated.

So far so good. Several sleeps and wake ups and restart and keyboard works without problems.
