how do i stop safari opening when my mac starts up

I have just upgraded to catalina and safari opens automaticaly. I have McAfee installed and i think this may be the cause of safari opening automaticaly. Dont want to USE safari, i use crome. Any suggestions?

Make sure 'reopen windows when logging in' is unchecked after a restart.


Check that safari isn't enabled in system preferences/Users and Groups/Login items, it shouldn't open automatically if these options are off.
