Question about using a power bank when connecting a flash drive to iPad Pro.

Can I use a power bank to assist an accessory with a USB3 flash drive port and a lightning power port which plugs into my iPad Pro? If so how much m a h is required to open and use the flash drive? Also, do I need to upgrade to the new iPad OS? Most of the files on my flash drive are Word documents. My iPad Pro will not open them in Word so that I can read and edit them. But the files will open in Pages and allow modifications. I understand this problem has a fix in the works and should be forthcoming. I am wondering if the fix would take place in the upgrade to iPad OS. I appreciate any help concerning these two questions.

Thanks z. I have the adapter you mentioned. I have connected it to my iPad when I have a USB3 flash drive in the adapter as well. I also have a regular power cord connected to an electrical outlet and then connected to the adapter. With this configuration my iPad will open the flash drive. I was hoping to be able to use a power bank instead of always having to plug into a power outlet. This would give me a much more flexible way to use the iPad. I tried using a power bank charger to the adapter while having the flash drive in the adapter but I get a message on the iPad saying the USB requires too much power for the iPad to open it. I think the power bank was 2800mah. I am wondering if I use a stronger power bank charger will the iPad open the flash drive? And, how much mah will I need? A second question is concerns upgrading to the new iPad OS and editing the contents of the flash drive. The majority of my flash drive files are Word documents. My iPad Pro will not open Word files. But it will open the files in Pages allowing me to read, edit or create new files. I am wondering if the upgrade will allow me to open the Word files in Word on the iPad? Thanks for your help!
