Can't switch dark mode to light mode

I went into Display /Brightness and turned off the automatic scheduler, Sunrise to Sunset . Click to Custom settings, 6 AM to 12 AM. Worked!

Well I got it to work by turning off true tone then turning it back on. THEN click light mode and it switched over.

I’ve just had the same issue. Tried all solutions, none worked so I shut down and restarted, that worked.

When this happens, it means my phone has suddenly changed my location to China! Ugh. I have to go to date and time, then change my location back to Cupertino. Restart my phone and it seems to look fine.

When you go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Light, are you able to put the check on Light mode under Appearance?

What happens when you try to switch? Let me know what happens.

Hello, I’m having the same problem on iPhone X , I can’t check the light mode, it’s stuck on dark mode. I was using automatic from sunrise to sunset but it’s now stuck on dark mode.

Same here. It won't let me click light mode. Switching to automatic doesn't work either...it stays in dark mode all day.

This worked for me::: Go to Settings-Display&Text Size-Turn off "Smart Invert"
