RAR File extraction
I need to extract a RAR file. The unarchiver wants a password. Which password does it want, I don't know. It doesn't accept my Apple ID. Can anyone help?

It looks like that rar file was created with a password. You will have to ask whoever gave you that file.
Why would you hand a RAR file—or something pretending to be a RAR file—your Apple ID password?
Did the “RAR” file and the “free fideo” tell you to do that?
That’d be bad.
A password-protected free video, where no password is available nor provided, is not a free video.
I’d wonder if that might be malware and a free video.
’Free” is one of the ways used to encourage folks to load malware onto a Mac, after all.
I’d NOT provide an admin password here, as I’d rather not have this RAR file unpack something untoward onto my system.
Contact the folks that provided this free video.
And I’d change your Apple ID password immediately, if there’s any chance that this isn’t really a RAR file, or if you just downloaded or don’t control this RAR tool.
Just as I suspected: the file itself has a password. In fact, the dialog says so very clearly - it says password for the file:
If you look closely, it appears that the password itself is written in the website (it seems to be in Thai characters; I'm not sure since I can't read Thai or other seemingly Asian language that may be).
In that case you use your password that you use when you started the mac.
Can you post a link so we can test that file?
Assuming the contents are both benign and uncorrupted, maybe VLC can play the file?
I have downloaded some audio files from the same website and I haven't had any problems. The link to the site: http://www.e4thai.com/e4e/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5794:oxford-new-english-file-collection&catid=70&Itemid=130
The file: Download New Video File File-Upper Int Without Subtitles (Size: 750 MB)
I have been able to extract it, but my Quick time Player 10.4 cannot read the AVI file. I have also tested it in MPEG Streamclip, which converts many different formats cannot open it either. What do I need to do it now?
I have downloaded it free from a website. It's an educational video.
+1
Just wanted a password. It didn't say "Apple ID". The Unarchiver did when I wanted to extract it.
Thank you, MrHoffman.
Thank you.
The password to the archive is listed on the web page.
Partially in Thai. Fully translated into English: “Password used when extracting the RAR file: → www.irlanguage.com“
