Dark mode

I turned dark mode on and it won’t turn off.

It won’t let me select “light” in settings.

I set the timer to turn it off.

I turned the timer off.

I asked Siri to turn it off.

I’ve turned my phone off & back on.

Yes the smart invert somehow gets switched on.

Go to settings/accessibility/display/text/smart invert and turn it off.

Then you can go turn the dark mode off.

Apple just told me: "Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display and Text Size. If “Smart Invert” is on, turn it off.

Yep it was the smart invert.

problem is I never turned that on. Yes there’s a bug that prevents you from being able to switch dark mode off if invert is on.

My wife has this issue also on her iPhone 8 running iOS 13.1.2 and they apple store have confirmed its more than likely a software bug they they are hoping will get ironed out in the next update.
