I am assuming that you have shared out (exported) a movie from iMovie and put it onto a thumb drive or other external drive so that you can plug it into a TV and play it. Is that correct? If so, most TVs won't read Mac OS Extended (Journaled) drives. However, you can use the Disk Utility app on your Mac to reformat the drive to ExFat format that is compatible with both apple and windows. Then your TV should be able to read it. Reformatting will erase all data on the drive so be sure first to back up elsewhere any data, including your movie, that is on the external drive.

Apparently, your movie is corrupted and that's why it won't play. Go back to your iMovie project. Expand the timeline and slowly scroll through it looking for black frames, white flashes, artifacts and any other indications of corruption. Cut out any that you find and share out your movie again. Then copy it to your ExFat formatted drive and see if it works.

Hello Rich 839 thank you for you email

I did follow all your Info:

use the Disk Utility app on your Mac to reformat the drive to ExFat format that is compatible with both apple and windows. Then your TV should be able to read it. Reformatting will erase all data on the drive so be sure first to back up elsewhere any data, including your movie, that is on the external drive

This is the format from my USB flash drive:  ExFAT where I have a Video from IMovie  it didn't open I got the same massage:

File Or Directory Is damage fail to read only play on may Macbook-Pro Computer.

when I plugged the flash drive into The LG TV with. EXFAT not even read it not appears at all

now I have 3 different flash drive Formatted, This MS-DOS (FAT32) opens and show the video in my LG TV, shows the folders but said MP4 not available.

the 3rs USB Flash drive with Extended (Journaled) only play on MAC computer not TV

well I hope I'll be able to to fix this IMovie Video.

Thank you again.
